Laughing Through the Pain

I have written posts on here about addiction, abuse, chronic pain and mental health.

So my blog has just been a barrel of laughs.

Seriously though, as important as it is to be vocal about abuse, it’s equally as important to enjoy the life your living. You have to step back and laugh at how absurd and beautiful the world can be at the same time.

It’s so easy to get stuck in the past, but we are not defined by others. We are not defined by our trauma, pain etc., we are the only ones who can define us.

So this post is about the present. Not the present pain and sorrow. Not the nightmares. It’s about the life that’s worth living. It’s about being the you that you want to be.

For now that’s fast forward and tiptoe around the trauma, pain and addiction.

I realized a few years ago that life is a precious gift. I spent years focusing on all of the negative aspects of my childhood and I ended up missing out on what was happening in the real world.

Everyday has something to offer, some days more then others. I see opportunity’s for success everywhere, and I jump for the ones that I can reach.

I see beauty all around me. From the forests to the oceans( I’m lucky to live by both).

I spent so much time running through life, now I slow down and take it all in. I make time for myself everyday, and everyday I thank the universe that I am still a part of it.

I find metaphors for life all around me.

Even one single ray of sunshine on a rainy day is enough to remind me that through the darkness, we can still find light.

Feel free to comment something positive.(You always do anyway;)

So I hope you all have a great day. I for one am going to enjoy the rest of my day, doing absolutely nothing.
